Summary – Care Policy and Legislation in Wales

Summary – Care Policy and Legislation in Wales

This resource lists policies and legislation relating to social care and child care in Wales. Its aim is not to include a comprehensive list but rather a selection of items of Welsh legislation and policy which will be of use for students and tutors in further education in Wales who work in social care and child care.

The list has 3 sections:

Section 1: Generic policy and legislation spanning both fields, for example, Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014; Welsh Language (Wales) Measure, 2011; More than just words – Strategic framework for Welsh-medium services in health, social services and social care, 2012.

Section 2: Children’s policy and legislation, for example, Children and Families (Wales) Measure, 2010; Foundation Phase and early years’ policies; White Paper on Additional Leaning Needs, 2014.

Section 3: Adults’ policy and legislation, for example, Mental Health (Wales) Measure, 2010; Strategy for Older People in Wales 2013-2023; Safeguarding vulnerable adults.

Each item includes a brief description with a link to additional information, in most instances from the Welsh Government website.
